I absolutely hated blogging, It is just not my thing. I have never been one to write in a journal or anything so this was a annoying. I liked finding the quotes by Mark Twain best. I did not like "Walking through Harlem". I honestly didn't put much effort into these blogs. I fell behind, and did what i needed to do. I would not recommend this for the next class, i didn't learn anything new from doing them and i am quitting blogging after this last post.
Top three stories we read this year were: The Yellow Wallpaper
The world on the turtle's back
The Pit and the Pendulum

Gatsby Sountrack
1.I Wanna Be Loved By You-Helen Kane
This song relates to Gatsby and his want for Daisy.
2.I'm Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover- Nick Lucas/ Ben Bernie
This song makes me think of how Gatsby is trying to turn around his luck in winning over Daisy.
3.Shake That Thing- Ethel Waters/ Papa Charlie Jackson This Song is just a representation of the parties Gatsby throws, It's kind of our very first impression of him.

Stephen Crane
you say you are holyYou say you are holy, And thatBecause I have not seen you sin.Aye, but there are those Who see you sin, my friend.
Mark Twain quotes
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
— Mark Twain
— Mark Twain
I like this quote because I'm always hesitant to do things, try new adventures, but part of me wants to do different things. This quote inspires me because only when someone has truly lived can he give advice like this.
Quest for Civil Rights

I think king, Malcom X, and Rosa Parks all had a bond by the way they stood up for what they believed in, but there was more than just them. As Having Our Say shows us everyone has their own story from that time, They have their own opinions and hardships.

A walk through harlem
In the story Having Our Say, Bessie's dental office is on seventh street across from the red brick building. That was the first thing i noticed. Second, I noticed the churches, the sisters were religious especially because their father was a pastor. It's really interesting seeing a story in my head come to life. These buildings are reinventing themselves brick by brick in my head. I like it.

I put this photo up because it shows slaves working. This to me is shaming to americans everywhere but it also shows something about how strong african americans really were. They worked so hard just to be like you and me everyday. They ran from the wrongs and stood their grounds. The delany sisters relate to this story because they worked for everything they wanted. They didnt borrow and set a lesson for all those who took them for granted.
My say...

Simple as it may be I wanna discuss laughter. The idea of it, the execution of it, and why it sparked my interest. Laughter i believe is the best thing in the world. It portrays happiness and individuality. It's pure in a way. Kids when they see something that amuses them they burst with their own form of joy. Thats a great thing about it. You can't stop it, more over you don't want to. Plus, everyones is different among my short life i've heard a number of laughs and they create a song, so pretty and light heartedly unintentional. So live a little, laugh a lot.
whitman
Have you ever had someone come up to you and not recognize you? Even if they've known you your whole life and you were seperated just for a short time? The way he wrote this poem makes me think about that. How i can look in the mirror and tell you I've barely changed since i was a kid but have those i've known not be able to recall a name. The reason is that the change i've endured i've watched it grow each day. Something new has added itself to me and this is what i believe whitman is trying to put across. He says the mother gives you life and everyday after that is yours... without an outside perspective you stay the child you saw years ago.
Emily
| THE SKIES can’t keep their secret! | |
| They tell it to the hills— | |
| The hills just tell the orchards— | |
| And they the daffodils! | |
| A bird, by chance, that goes that way | 5 |
| Soft overheard the whole. | |
| If I should bribe the little bird, | |
| Who knows but she would tell? | |
| I think I won’t, however, | |
| It’s finer not to know; | 10 |
| If summer were an axiom, | |
| What sorcery had snow? | |
| So keep your secret, Father! | |
| I would not, if I could, | |
| Know what the sapphire fellows do, | 15 |
| In your new-fashioned world! |

What Emily is trying to say here, or in my opinion, is simply keep your secrets to yourself becasue no one else will. Basically her trust is only in herself and shes urging us to do the same. Also, if we were to tell all our secrets where is the mystery or beauty of the unknown in life? The truth cannot always be found.

Transcendentalism!
I'm more of a fan for Transcendentalists. The writers in antitranscendentalism tend to be very depressing and kind crazy in left field stuff. With transcendentalism the truth can be found because it's all set out in front of you. Walden especially caught my attention. His love for nature and views on society are rather inspirational. not only is the truth put out for everyone these stories tend to hold tons of hope for reads and im pro hope :)
